My Paintings
To be so privileged to be able to paint.
Moods and colors
I want to express moods and feelings with my paintings. I paint from the heart and from all the impressions I get in my daily life. I paint abstract, but lately I see that more and more abstract figures and people sneak into my work.
I seldom plan how I want the finished result to look. When I am working on a painting, I often take it into the living room at the end of day, when I am done working in my studio. Gazing over the painting, I might suddenly see a pattern or a person, and then I know in which direction that painting is taking me.
I especially like the dimmed colours and I love to use them. I work with acrylic colours for the simple reason that they dry faster – I’m an impatient person.
I start out with 2-3 colours and work mostly wet in wet, and nearly always with a narrow palette. The last few years I have used a lot of chalk and graphite in my paintings, and I love the effect it has.
Sometimes I draw on the canvas first – other times I start with paint and draw later. I use all kinds of remedies in my art; Spatulas, brushes, sponges and water sprayers. I love the rough look and when the colours are pleasing and complement each other.
I often paint in series, but it sometimes happens that I suddenly get an idea that has nothing to do with the current series, and then I simply need to do that right away. I am a very spontaneous person.
Below you can find some of my artworks and, with the pictures, a link to my galleries.
